Types of Session

New Research Reports

These will be brief reports (15 minutes + 5 minutes of discussion) presenting new research findings of potential general interest. They will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those submitted by any interested psychiatrist.

Oral Communications

Oral Communications will be presented in 90 minutes sessions. The time allotted to each presenter will be 7 minutes, followed by 3 minutes of discussion. The papers will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those submitted by any interested psychiatrist.

Plenary Lectures

There will be six Plenary Lectures (45 minutes each), delivered by Each of these Lectures will be scheduled as a stand-alone plenary.

Posters

Posters will be presented in Poster Sessions, grouped by subject. They will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those submitted by any interested psychiatrist. Each poster should be 0.95 m wide x 1.00 m high. The text and illustrations should be readable from a distance of 2 meters.

Regular Symposia

These 90 minutes sessions will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those proposed by any interested psychiatrist. Each symposium will include no more than five presentations.

Section Symposia/Workshops

These Symposia/Workshops (90 minutes each) will be organised by the WPA Scientific Sections. Each of them will include no more than five presentations. Each Section will organise either Symposium or Workshop (not both).

Video & Film Sessions

These sessions (up to 90 minutes each) will show videos and films involving the presentation of perspectives from different parts of the world. They will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those submitted by any interested psychiatrist.

Workshops

Workshops will be sessions focusing on translating research findings and clinical wisdom into routine practice. Each of them is scheduled to last 90 minutes. They will be selected by the Scientific Committee from those proposed by any interested psychiatrist.

Zonal Symposia/Workshops

Series of Special Symposia/Workshops will be organised by WPA Zone Representatives and by experts from the four WPA Regions (Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Asia/Australasia) invited by the Scientific Committee. Each symposium will last 90 minutes and will include no more than five presentations
